Indiana defeats New York in final minutes 86-80

Both teams had a great game! Indiana just had a little extra push in the final minutes to surge past the Liberty.

Indiana Fever’s MVP for this game was Rookie Jeanette Pohlen! Jeanette Pohlen started the season a little rocky but she really helped this Indiana team win this game. She played 24 minutes which is more than some of their starters. In those 24 minutes, she score 14 points but shot 71% from the field. She only took 7 shots but she made 5 of those and those 5 were perfect shots. She had a key 3 towards the end of the game that gave the team hope. She not only helped towards the end with her scoring ability, but she added some key defensive rebounds. To be exact, she had 3 great defensive rebounds that lead to extra Fever possessions.

Katie Douglas was another great contributor as well as Tamika Catchings. They had about the same stats. Tamika scored 19 while Katie put up 17. Kate was the voice of the first half! She led this team but both Meeka and Kate went to work in the Second Half. They both dished out 4 assists which one of those was to Jeanette Pohlen’s wide open 3.

Essence Carson was the reason NY was in this game! She scored 23 points. She has 1 assist but that’s because she was the main one scoring! She was certainly the one that deserved the MVP for the NY. She had a spectacular game last night. I loved watching her play and she really made me proud lol. She shot 60% from the 3pt line and those were definitely timely shots. She was also 100% on the Free Throw line. She also added 2 assists and 2 steals to add to her team.

Cappie Pondexter, Plenette Pierson and Nicole Powell also shared almost equally. Cappie scored 13 points, 1 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Plenette Pierson scored 16 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, and 1 steal. Nicole Powell was similar with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
