The Phoenix Mercury take on the Indiana Fever at 7ET tonight on ESPN3.com. This is going to be a good team if both teams showup to this game.
Indiana just came off a good win over the Lynx in the last minutes. Tonight, they will be on their home court which may add some advantage. Katie Douglas doesn’t show signs of stopping even though she is injured. Tamika Catchings isn’t gonna stop either. But they have a lot more people than these too. Briann January has stepped into a leadership roll and Jeanette Pohlen is a great help to their team. She makes shots when she needs to but she also makes shots when she doesn’t. Indiana has different threats on the court and they need to use them tonight.
Phoenix Mercury aren’t doing as well as Indiana in this season so far. They aren’t the worst team, but they are playing like it. They can’t seem to find their swing. They defeated San Antonio, the last undefeated team, but that doesn’t prove anything. Any team can lose on any given day and phoenix has had a lot of those days. Penny Taylor and DeWanna Bonner have been out shining Diana Taurasi in almost every aspect except points. Candice Dupree needs to continue to step up. Yes, her stats are great but her presence isn’t. She has missed a lot of easy shots in games that Phoenix can’t afford. Phoenix, as a whole, is playing sloppy and I don’t think it’s because of Corey Gaines. The entire team needs to Arrive at this game in order to secure the win.
