San Antonio starts the season off right with an away win. The Silver Stars are underrated but they look to start their season off with a great winning streak. The Silver Stars were down by a few at the half but they went into the second half as if they were up by 10. They kept the momentum going and defeated the Shock in their season opener.
The Silver Stars had a great team effort in this win but Becky Hammon is the reason for this triumph. Hammon is a great player that most people underrate. In her first game of the season, she dropped 15 points and dished 11 assists. Hammon is a great guard that every team needs. Hammon knows how to control the game and keep her team composed.
Sophia Young also played an excellent game leading the team with 17 points. She grabbed 8 rebounds as well in this game starting the season off with a near double-double. Danielle Adams came off the bench and scored 14 points in this victory. She is an X-Factor for the team. Once she’s hot, she’s hot and everyone will follow. Danielle Robinson was another performer racking up 8 points to help fuel the momentum.
Tameka Johnson was EXCELLENT in this game. She did everything she could to help her team advance but her efforts weren’t enough. She scored a huge 21 points and dished out 9 assists. She was also 100% from the arc. She played mostly at the 1 spot but you can’t tell that from the stats. Glory Johnson came off the bench and scored 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to get her first WNBA double-double. If Glory Johnson continues to come off the bench like this and if Tameka Johnson continues, this team will be a good team this year.
