5/22 Game Day Preview

Los Angeles Sparks vs. Seattle Storm

Who Wins? Los Angeles Sparks. The Sparks played a great game when they were in Seattle. Now that this is their season opener, they have one more reason to win. Kristi Toliver  had a phenomenal game.  Not only did she perform, but the team put up a great effort to win this game over the Storm. The Storm need to come out of the gate how they finished the last game. They come-from-behind victory was great to see but was a great moment for the Sparks. Seattle has a chance to win, just like they had a chance to win last week. They will need to stay hot until the end of the game. Ann Wauters had a debut game with her net Storm team. Sue Bird performed as she usually did. Seattle is missing a large factor due to the absence of Lauren Jackson but they have the ability to bounce back.

Minnesota Lynx vs. New York Liberty

Who Wins? Only time will tell. The Minnesota Lynx have a great team this year even though they lost a few good players. The Lynx beat the Mercury 105-83 on Sunday and both teams played poorly. Monica Wright and Seimone Augustus both were great in the game. They pulled their team to a great victory but were also helped by many of their teammates. The Liberty are coming off back to back losses to the Connecticut Sun. The Liberty are at home this game and they are thirsty for a win. The Liberty have a great team and a great bench but they don’t use it well. Everyone on this team needs to score and be involved. They haven’t been playing well as a team and I believe if they get that together they have a chance to win.

Phoenix Mercury vs. Tulsa Shock

Who wins? Tulsa Shock. Tulsa has a good team this year and that’s all it takes to beat the Mercury. The Mercury are missing Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor, two large components of their team. Mercury have a few new players but it isn’t enough to fill the void. DeWanna Bonner needs to play better than the 6th Woman of the Year. She needs to play as though she won the MVP. Alexis Hornbuckle needs to adopt this as her new team and play with the same intensity as she did with the Lynx. Charde Houston needs to play the same as she did yesterday. Phoenix really needs to improve from last game if they plan to beat the Shock. Tulsa acquired Tameka Johnson who had a great game with the Shock! Glory Johnson and Ivory Latta combined to score 25 points off the bench. Tulsa will grow this year and once their chemistry gets good they will be an excellent team.
